Energetic Spring Cleaning | Spring Equinox Rituals: Part 2

Knock knock... a new season is at the doorstep. Happy Spring Equinox! Just imagine the aesthetic: you open your windows on a sunny + warm day, play your favorite songs and light your favorite candle after a fulfilling morning of spring cleaning your home and tending to your garden. I mean... this is PEAK joy, amiright?

The Spring Equinox, also known as 'Ostara' in Pagan tradition, is a celebration of the fertility of the earth and the renewal + rebirth of our spirits after and sleepy and slow winter. It's the beginning of the growing season, and the earth seems to breathe life again. At the same time, we begin to blossom with creativity and child-like wonder. Just after the Equinox, we will move into the Full Moon in Libra on March 28th. Libra is all about balance and harmony, especially within our relationships, but balance begins within ourselves. And our environment plays a huge role in how balanced we feel within.

To welcome this refreshing + nourishing energy of a new season, we can cleanse our spaces to bring balance and make room for new beginnings!

Here are some of our favorite ways to freshen up our sacred spaces for this new season!

SMOKE WASH

After you've dusted your shelves and Marie Kondo-ed your entire life (aka recycle those old magazines you never read), the next best practice is to cleanse your space on an energetic level. Stagnant energy no more! You can use sacred smoke wash like Rosemary, Cedarethically harvested  Palo Santo or Sage or incense to purify the energy around you. Open all of your windows and waft the smoke in all of the rooms of your house... even the corners and closets! Smoke from certain herbs and trees produce ions which wash away free radicals + airborne pathogens and help to set the energy for ritual or to just to purify the air in your home. While performing the smoke cleansing, you can say this little mantra out loud or in your head:

"I rid this space and myself of any heaviness and negativity. I am cleansed."

FLOWERS

We are known to have fresh flowers in our space no matter what time of year it is, but something feels 10x more special about bringing flowers into your space around the Spring Equinox. Flowers have a way of brightening our the spirit and activating our senses. As the first florals emerge from the earth, we can honor this sense of fertility and rebirth with the first blossoms. Daffodils, Tulips, and budding twigs like Pussy Willow are a beautiful way to bring mama nature indoors at this time. Adorn your altar and your kitchen table with these colorful symbols of life and renewal.

REARRANGE FURNITURE

Sick of looking at your couch in the same damn spot? The color of your curtains getting on your last nerve? Is a corner of your home feeling especially cluttered? There's probably some stagnant energy lingering there. Change it up and move that ish! Moving things around is a quick way to  break up the heavy energy in the room that just needs to free flow. Finding a new way to adorn your space can also nurture your creativity and awaken your spirit.

SPRING-IFY YOUR ALTAR

Add crystals like Citrine, Moonstone, Amethyst, Clear Quartz or Rose Quartz to your altar to encourage balance, calm and abundance. You can use candles of pastel colors or candles with a springy scent to honor your spiritual rebirth. Adorn your altar with springy florals mentioned above. In pagan tradition, many people use eggs or egg shapes to sync with this spirit of fertility. Whatever is calling you right now to add to your altar, listen to your intuition!

May these seasonal rituals bring long lasting abundance, peace + joy to you!
Happy Spring, ya'll!
